A photo from the "Stranger" series by Shizuka Yokomizo

This is "Stranger no.23" from the Stranger series by Japanese photographer Shizuka Yokomizo. The concept behind the photos in the series was that the subjects received letters from Yokomizo, noting that she would be outside their windows at a particular time to photograph whatever could be seen through the window. The subjects could choose to be there, not be there, keep their windows closed, etc. The subjects were mostly chosen at random -- the only criterion for selection was that they lived on the ground floor.

I found this to be a really innovative approach to mixing documentary and constructed approaches to photography.
